Join us for a member exclusive conversation with Mark McClellan, MD, PhD, Director of the Duke-Margolis Institute for Health Policy and Sagnik Bhattacharya, Chief Executive Officer of Rhapsody, as they discuss the intersections, interactions, mutual benefits and future vision for driving value in healthcare. Mark McClellan, MD,PhD is Director and Robert J. Margolis, M.D., Professor of Business, Medicine and Policy at the Duke‐Margolis Institute for Health Policy at Duke University. He is a physician‐economist who focuses on quality and value in health care including payment reform, real‐world evidence and more effective drug and device innovation. At the center of the nation’s efforts to combat the COVID‐19 pandemic, the author of COVID‐19 response roadmap, and co‐author of a comprehensive set health policy strategies for COVID vaccines, testing, and treatments, Dr. McClellan and his Duke‐Margolis colleagues are now focused on health policy strategies and solutions to advance the resilience and interconnectedness of 21st Century public health and health care . Mark is a former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration where he developed and implemented major reforms in health policy. Dr. McClellan is an independent board member on the boards of Johnson & Johnson, Cigna, Alignment Healthcare, and PrognomIQ; co‐chairs the Guiding Committee for the Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network; and serves as an advisor for Arsenal Capital Group, Blackstone Life Sciences.
Sagnik Bhattacharya is the Chief Executive Officer of Rhapsody. Sagnik is an industry veteran, accomplished in connecting with clinical leaders, CIOs, CMIOs, and other industry stakeholders to create positive patient outcomes. As CEO, Sagnik is passionate about customer success and simplifying the complexity of health data exchange. Prior to joining Rhapsody, Sagnik served as EVP and General Manager of HealthEdge, where he led the company’s core solutions for payers. Prior to that, he served as Head of Payer & Provider Initiatives at PatientPing, accelerating development and go-to-market of a national patient-centered care coordination platform. In addition, Sagnik had a distinguished career at Epic where he led the Population Health and Outpatient EHR divisions. Sagnik is an active participant in national interoperability conversations, serving on the Board of Directors for Carequality.
Mariann Yeager has more than 20 years of experience in the health information technology field. She currently serves as CEO for The Sequoia Project, a non-profit solely focused on advancing secure, interoperable nationwide health data sharing in the US. She leads the Recognized Coordinating Entity (RCE) effort, in close collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT to develop, implement, and maintain the Common Agreement component of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) and to operationalize the Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) designation and monitoring process. The Sequoia Project serves as a steward of independently governed health IT interoperability initiatives, including the RSNA Image Share Validation Program and the Interoperability Matters program, which engages experts from across the healthcare and health IT communities to collaborate to solve discrete challenges to nationwide health information sharing through various workgroups. Ongoing Interoperability Matters workgroups include Information Sharing workgroup, Data Usability workgroup, and the Public Health workgroup. Under her leadership, The Sequoia Project supported, the startup, growth and maturation of two highly successfully interoperability initiatives, the eHealth Exchange and Carequality, which now operate as independent non-profit organizations. Prior to her tenure at The Sequoia Project, she worked with the HHS Office of National Coordinator (ONC) for five years on nationwide health information network initiatives. She also led the launch and operation of the first ambulatory and inpatient EHR certification program in the US.
